Understanding Trademarks 101
The U.S. Patent and Trademark Office (USPTO) categorizes products and services into classes. If a trademark covers more than one product or service that fall into multiple classes, additional fees are required for each additional class. The USPTO assigns numbers to its classes, and each number corresponds to a named category.
Please keep in mind that the class headings or short titles are generally too broad to be used as a sole description of products or services. Also, an international class number alone cannot be used as a listing.
